this morning

unfortunately not enough to get work canceled. i dont know why but people here like to exaggerate and say that just a little bit of snow will shut the city down. stop lying people. why you need to get my hopes up like that?

being sick

stuck being ridiculously sick right now which sucks. i hope i'm better in time to enjoy this weekend. i would not be happy if i had to waste a weekend laying in bed.

trivia mondays

so mondays here have turned into bar trivia nights at a place called jj mahoneys that i got into through a friend of a friend from home. but yea i just wanted to update this quick as i realized i hadn't mention how we won this past monday. $25 gift certificate and over $90 cash were the winning. but the best part was that we beat the "uncomprimised virginity" team who is the team that just pretty much wins by default everytime. they were so pissed. it was hysterical.

nappy roots, really im not kidding, i saw nappy roots

nah im serious dude, i saw nappy roots. haha and it was pretty sick. i noticed it in the morning and seeing as the tickets were 10 bucks and a few others said they would go, i figured why not. they played at an awesome venue called nectar, had a nice outdoor area too next to the stage. a couple good opening acts and overall a lot of fun. probably only my 2nd hip hop show? they were real good live and good at getting the crowd going. we were front and center so that was nice. the highlight of the show was without a doubt when they took about 5 or 10 minutes to pay tribute to artists whom has passed. they played biggie, aaliyah, tupac, another couple others and then it got crazy, after about 6 different rap artists they pulled out nirvana, smells like teen spirit, everyone went fuckin crazy, including me. everyone just started jumping and screaming the lyrics. they played almost the whole song and let me tell you, it was an expierence. you had nappy roots flowing to smells like teen spirit and the whole place losing their minds, real real cool. so yea i guess what im saying is..... see nappy roots if you get the chance? yea, that is what im saying. wow.

discovery park

on sunday i ended up going to discovery park which is a park right inside the city limits of seattle, pretty crazy to think that this place exists right in a major city. probably why i love this place so much so far. discovery park is a fairly large park with trails, a military base, and a beach area in northern seattle. hiked around there for a while but spent most the time chillin on the beach. it was pretty fun and got to see some pretty cool stuff.
more importantly though, all day i was just dreaming about the mac n cheese i was going to get after doing my grocery shopping at pike place. by the time i got there, they were completely sold out :(
so that sucked but i did get my grocery shopping done and then headed home where i made some bomb pasta that i got from pike so that slightly made up for missing out on the mac n cheese. i still dont know how im going to wait a whole nother week for it though. i dont know what im going to do when i leave here. i dont think i can live without it. it is honestly the best mac n cheese in the world and thats no exaggeration.

its about damn time, my first hike

so finally i got to go on my first couple hikes since i've been out here which is a relief. the weather has been amazing the entire time i've been here and this past weekend i decided to say fuck it cause i couldn't resist any longer. i've done a lot of other things since i've been here to keep me away from it but sitting on my couch on saturday morning with another day of awesome weather i figured it was time, plus it wasn't like my physical therapist was there to tell me not too so im good to go right?

so everyday i drive to work, i pass a trailhead to couger mountain which is literally 2 minutes down the road from my house so i thought i'd go check that out. to make even cooler besides the fact that its basically my backyard, is that its pretty damn sweet. its a large area with over 36 miles of trails and some pretty cool stuff in it. it use to be a big area for coal mining. i spent a little over 4 hours exploring it, probably about 8 to 10 miles which happened because i really didn't want to stop, and i got to see some sweet stuff, a couple waterfalls, a huge clay pit, an old grated off coal mine entrance, some meadows, and two separate lookout points with amazing views. overall, all i have to say is its gotta be the best backyard i've ever had.
